Blackpowder

Blackpowder was invented during the 9th century by taoist monks, originally for medicinal purposes. However the explosive properties of this material, which were unprecedented at the time quickly showed applications in warfare setups.

This mixture of sulfur, charcoal and potassium nitrate spread through the known world during the XIII century and changed the best practices in terms of war forever, opening new tactical strategies and enabling anyone who could aim with the power to kill.
